86 years then 2004 happens. 108 years and then finally the Cubs win in 2016. Dan Shulman came up with an interesting thought during this Sunday Night's telecast saying that there, " is a mutual appreciation" between Red Sox and Cubs fans.   I tend to agree with this sentiment.  Being a Red Sox fan and growing up just waiting and hoping for the opportunity to see them win a World Championship was roller-coaster ride with higher highs and lower lows than can ever be understood unless you were a Cubs fan.  To go through such heartbreak like both teams had gone through over decades and centuries to finally break through with their championships is a wonderful thing.  Theo Epstein who was only in his second full season as a general manager of the Red Sox, taking the job in November of 2002, and coming oh soo close to getting to the World Series and then architecting the 3-0 comeback to beat the Yankees and to reach and win the World Series, openly admitt...

Who's better, Williams or Dimmagio? Thurman Munson or Carlton Fisk? Fenway Park or Yankee Stadium?  Do fans of both teams finally let Bucky "bleepin Dent's home run became a faded memory? what about the fight in 2003 between Arod and Varitek as well as watching the late Don Zimmer charge at Pedro and take a header over, and finally the completion of the greatest comeback in sports in 2004 do all of these debates and memories fade away?     It's weird to think that growing up being a Red Sox fan watching all those Yankee World Series being won, while the Red Sox waited and waited all those years until 2004 to finally win their first World Series.      Since 2004, the Red Sox have gone onto to win 2 more World Series titles in 2007, and 2013, while the Yankees captured their 27th title in 2009. As a young kid growing up I grew up on the heroes of the game, Ruth, Dimaggio, Mantle, Williams etc.  As I continued to grow up and watch the game of baseball grow and mature like I did, I was always excited to see what new legends were going to get to be immortalized into the Baseball Hall of Fame.   I've been lucky enough to visit the Hall of Fame on multiple occasions including as a kid with my dad, as a member of my high school baseball team on two occasions.   To now watch as more players that I grew up watching in the late 80's 90's and early 2000's it just reminds me of how wonderful this game truly and really is. Well its Officially been a month since I have moved from the comfort of Vermont and the Upper Valley to my new home of New Smyrna Beach, Florida. The first few weeks weren't the easiest, lots of stress, and anxiety which lead to some difficult times, mostly because I am not a very patient person and so having everyone tell me to, " Be Patient" and "It Takes Time" wasn't really helping me relax nor was it helping me adjust.   I also really wasn't realizing the GIANT life change I had made, and wasn't wanting to acknowledge how big of a move it really was.  As many know, I grew up in a very small town in Vermont, and the community that I was part of was a wonderful collection of people, that had seen me grow up from a little kid, to a young man. So moving from that comfort to a new place was a BIG leap but it's just now that I am starting to appreciate just what I have both here in Florida and back home in Vermont.  Another reason that I wasn...

soo it's been about 3 weeks since I officially have moved from Vermont, and begun my Florida adventure. I have really enjoyed being here and slowly starting to meet new people and getting to know my new home town of New Smyrna Beach, and my new home State of Florida.   With the help of my girlfriend and her friends, and her family, I have started becoming more comfortable with my surroundings.  They have been soo wonderful in just accepting me and allowing me to become part of their social network.  I love that fact that even before I officially moved down here, I had started making a social network so that when I did move down I could have a very easy transition.  Though, as having Asbergers, making big life changes is something that I don't do very well. I planned for months and months to get ready for my move here, and then I was off.  I officially moved in on August 1st, and so far I really like my apartment. However,  I am still feeling unsure about ...

Soo its now officially summer which means my move to Florida is coming up quick.  I have a couple of of things that have been on my mind of late. Mainly just trying to figure out the best driving route to take and how many hours of driving a day I can realistically do. My best is 9 hours of driving and then I had to work a JV baseball game that day ( don't have to worry about that).  My thinking is that I will attempt to get from VT to NJ.. then from NJ-Virginia-VA-NC and finally NC to FL, but we shall see depending on how far I am able to make it on the initial day  It's an adventure that I am ready for but yet I am also totally scared shitless because for the past 5 years all I know is my home town with a couple of trips to NYC, Boston and my last adventure which was to FL for Umpire School. As another High School baseball season draws to an end, I am coming to the conclusion of a couple of things.   As much as I love being an Umpire and doing games in New Hampshire and Vermont, I am ready for newer situations and offerings.   Being in New England and submitting to the weather, is not always a win-win situation.  You are lucky if you are on a field in the first week of April, and by the end of May you are done, with the High School season.  2.)  In Florida, you can play baseball close to year round, which offers me a better chance of actually making a career out of being  currently a High School (JV) /Babe Ruth certified umpire, to potentially doing enough games to maybe one day taking another step and working towards becoming a College umpire. 3.)  I am ready to prove myself as an umpire in a new environment and new location.
