Less then 3 weeks

Soo its now officially summer which means my move to Florida is coming up quick.  I have a couple of of things that have been on my mind of late. Mainly just trying to figure out the best driving route to take and how many hours of driving a day I can realistically do. My best is 9 hours of driving and then I had to work a JV baseball game that day ( don't have to worry about that).  My thinking is that I will attempt to get from VT to NJ.. then from NJ-Virginia-VA-NC and finally NC to FL, but we shall see depending on how far I am able to make it on the initial day
It's an adventure that I am ready for but yet I am also totally scared shitless because for the past 5 years all I know is my home town with a couple of trips to NYC, Boston and my last adventure which was to FL for Umpire School.
Over the past few months I have slowly realized that I have grown as a person matured ( at least I think so)  and that as much as I love my life here in the Upper Valley and all my friends, and family that I have here I will always love and treasure my times and friendships with you.
However,  I have realized that in order to pursue my career as an Umpire I have to move down to a location where baseball is played year round. Sadly here Umpiring maybe lasts a couple months at a time and with the lack of players-lack of teams- lack of opportunities to work makes trying to make a living/career as an Umpire here very difficult to achieve.

Which leads  leads to  my next next chapter in my life, and I am ready for this next adventure .    When I went to Umpire School, in February I had hopes/wishes/thoughts of getting a job in Minor League baseball or another association and working my way up. Sadly that didn't happen due to multiple reasons but I was able to make some contacts and things just slowly went from there.
I  am hoping once I set up residency in FL that I will register to become a Florida High School Umpire and start working my way up the ranks and hopefully within a couple years maybe will become a College Umpire.

I want to say how much all of your friendships/support/ love/ mean to me and that even though I may not be close by to visit you I will always treasure and remember my times with each and everyone of you !! I also hope to be able to see as many of you before I leave on July 23rd.  I am having a farewell party ( I am happy to give as many of you readers location and time if you are interested) and hope that even though I may not be near by as I said, that we stay in touch !!

looking back on a year gone past

So lets see whats been up with me .. well as another holiday season draws closer to an end, I am looking back on the year that was. It started out with me loosing a job coincidentally on new years eve day of 2009 and then a month later I began working as free lance videographer which I still do to this very day. In April I resumed my umpiring for a 7th year in a row and also had a wonderful and exciting trip to visit my sister in new york city. I continued umpiring till mid july when I was part of my first theatrical production in over a year. I loved being part of the cast of 42nd St and also while doing that became part of another cast, this one for Barber of Seville. Both shows brought a new widening of my horizons and brought new friends and oppertunities into my life In October I had my 26th birthday and it was another wonderful time.. In November I took myself to see my first concert in over 5 years when Rockapella came to town. I also celebrated the one year anniversary of ...

Why Kevin Youkillis is the perfect blueprint for how Red Sox should handle Rafael Devers

photo credit: Cincinnati Enquier^.com Kevin Youkilis over 8.5 years with the Red Sox provided grit, determination, ^ a power-bat. Yet it was his defensive versatility that let the Red Sox get better. When the Red Sox drafted Kevin Youkilis out of the University of Cincinnati where he put together a .410/.549/.714/1.263 offensive stat line. Yet it was the fact that Youkilis also led the nation with 59 walks compared to just striking out just 21 times, that attracted then-GM Theo Epstein to draft the young third baseman in the 8th round of the 2001 draft. Youkilis would spend three seasons in the minors before reaching the M ajors during the 2004 season, where he would play a minor role that season during the team's championship run, appearing in 72 games that year , hitting .260 with 7 home-^runs driving in 35. Yet between 2007 and 2011 is when Youkilis would truly prove to be one of the best players in the game.  Over that five years, Youkilis would average 1...
Soo as we start the beginning of week #3 I have come to the realization that as much as I want to be like all the other guys who are here umpiring, I need to be able to listen to my body and adjust certain things to make it possible to actually umpire correctly.  My knee is still in one place the swelling has continued to go down but the soreness is still there. Hopefully by Tuesday or Wednesday I can slowly start ramping it up again and won't have lost too much time.
