Keys to Winning Game 4

After last night's dramatics by Steve Pearce and Jackie Bradley Jr plus the outstanding outing by Eovaldi, the Red Sox now have a 2-1 series lead with Rick Porcello on the hill tonight.
1.) Following Eovaldi's performance won't be easy as he is still the only Sox pitcher to go beyond the 5th inning in both of his playoff starts. Porcello has already staked his claim to fame as he has twice provided that stable eighth-inning bridge to Kimbrel in two outings out of the bullpen.
However, tonight he is facing a tough Astros team who were limited to just two runs last night, and are like manager AJ Hinch said about Mookie Betts a couple nights ago, are a "ticking-time-bomb"  Springer leads the Astros hitters with a .417 average, followed by Yuri Gurriel at an even .400 and Carlos Correra at .375 and Alex Bregman at .333.
SO keeping these hitters off of the bases and limiting the damage like Eovaldi was able to do will be a big key in hopefully securing a 3-1 series lead.

2.) Sox hitters need to keep the foot on the pedal and continue to push and put pressure on the Astros pitching staff along with their catchers who have already shown a tendency to be unable to catch pitches in the dirt.  Seeing how the top of the lineup continues from the first pitch of the game to show that they are controlling the strike zone as well as forcing Astros pitchers to throw more pitches and when Sox hitters do get their pitch they are doing damage to it.
I mentioned yesterday, that having JD Martinez's ability to heat up was would be a big impact on the Red Sox being able to win. Well, he was able to do that as in the first inning he smoked an RBI double down the rightfield line scoring Mookie who had singled and moved to second on a base hit by Andrew Benintendi.
So watch for Martinez to continue to do damage and for the Red Sox to look to make an initial score.

3.) Like always in any game, there are going to be unsung heroes and last night was no different.  Steve Pearce stepping up after the Astros had tied the game in the previous half inning and crushing a 452ft blast off of Joe Smith was the first of many big moments. It was followed by Brock Holt and Mitch Moreland getting hit by pitches (Moreland's forced in a run making the score 4-2) It was then followed by JBJ who had been struggling heading into the ALCS but in both games 2 and 3 he has started to heat up driving in 7 runs over those two games with a bases-clearing double in game 2 and then last nights dagger grand slam, which secured the 8-2 game.
Look for someone to once again step up and have their moment. My guess is that it will be Rafael Devers who has played sparingly but with the inconsistent and frustrating play of Nunez who had to exit game 3 early after he once again reinjured his ankle. I see Devers having a huge game against Charlie Morton.
So there ya go Sox fans, I sense another close game but yet I see the Sox offense continuing to fire on all cylinders and Porcello to dominate and the Sox winning and having a chance to clinch a trip to the World Series tomorrow night!

Soo today was a very light day. Had no control games or innings, but did have some time out on the drill field to get back into the habit of doing routine plays to get back into the swing of full umpiring.  Sadly I also started to realize how cutthroat this business can be.  Soo due to my injuries I haven't fully been at full health, as well as my other physical issues, have made my career has an umpire not the easiest of things to do.  I usually often in pain from my legs to my back and I do my best to push through it to continue to work my game, and due to the pain I may not look at athletic or graceful as other guys out there on the field, but I do my best.    One of the guys that I have gotten to know here at school, told me that sadly there have been a few guys that have snickered and made fun of me behind my back. He told me, not to worry about that, that the situation had been taken care of and that I should just focus on my game. To hear that a guy t...

What a LIFE

So let me think I haven't updated this since late november and quite a lot has happened.. I got myself a new kitten after the death of my 17 year old one and she is quite a handful but worth every second that I am with her.. her name is mitzvah or mitzy ( it means blessing in hebrew) but pretty much after bringing her home as part of my family my cat of 9 years quickly became sick and on december 6 after already been brought to the vet and told that he was just very sick and given a shot and to give him time to heal and recover I had to take him to an emergency vet. Sadly he didn't make it and died in my arms * the third cat in the past 4 months to die in my arms) SO yeah that was quite a shock..  So beside dealing with a lot of the pain and hurt from that I have been turning most of my attention towards work. I have worked at borders for just over a month and I love it! I LOVE the people the atmosphere everything.. and I don't really mind the hours I have had to wake up at...

A New Year, A New Me?

So with it now being 2021, My hope is that things will start to get better, ( like most everyone else). I have continued to struggle with some of the same issues, that I had in previous years, mostly my health (physical, mental/emotional being the main two.  A lot of the health issues are due to my diabetes, which this September will be 21 years that I was diagnosed.  It has been a roller coaster over these past two decades, but I am always doing my best to maintain as good “control” as I can. However, it continues to be a frustrating situation, especially when there is so much disconnect between doctor’s offices, pharmacies, and of course the biggest brick wall ever, the Insurance Company.   While I was living back in Vermont, I was truly lucky to have some of the best health care that was available to me at the time.  However, since moving to Florida, eight years ago this July, I have found that its a constant battle to be able to not only get my insulin covered, b...
